Sharon Villiers has created a grooming salon in the office which once serviced the Burchfield Brothers second hand car yard, at the corner of End and Crispe Sts.
There she provides services to all kinds of dog breeds and sizes, and "anything with fur".
For the past eight years, Sharon has been making the drive from Echuca to Deniliquin due to constant demand for her grooming service.
“There was a need in Deniliquin because there were not enough people grooming up here. But I was mobile, then my van broke down.”
The demand did not wane however, and Sharon decided it was time to open up a Shampooch salon here in Deniliquin. It is open every Wednesday.
"We are super excited to be back and happy seeing all our regulars and some new faces," she said.
Sharon has 25 years of grooming experience and specialises in all kinds of clips, including breed specific clips.
"We do all kinds of dogs, from small to large, but we also do a lot of cat clippings. We’ve done rabbits too … anything with hair.”
Shampooch offers “personalised attention” to all its furry customers, with its services including clips, groom outs, tidy ups, sanitary clips, bathing, nails, ear plucking, anal glands and worming.
“We’ve got the hydrobath with warm water, which can pick up a lot more.”
On the other days of the week, Sharon will work from her Echuca base.
She said it is great to be back in Deniliquin again regularly after battling through COVID and then the floods at the end of 2022. She opened the Deniliquin space in April.
Sharon has always had a long association with animals, and entered the grooming industry after working in sales.
“I wanted to try something different; I had my son and didn’t want to go back to what I was doing,” she said.
“I also breed and show dogs. I’ve got curly-coated retrievers.”
Shampooch is located on the corner of End and Crispe Street, next to the RSL, and is open every Wednesday from 8am. The closure time is as “demand requires”. For enquiries and bookings, call Sharon on 0419 597 411.
