Greater Shepparton Family Violence Prevention Network is celebrating the launch of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence on Friday, November 25.
The global campaign runs from November 25 to December 10 and aims to raise awareness of the prevalence, impact and drivers of gendered violence, as well as celebrating progress towards a society free of gender inequity.
The theme of the campaign in Victoria is ‘Respect #CallitOut’ and GSFVPN is encouraging the local community to think about the role individuals and organisations can have in promoting gender equity.
This Friday’s ‘Through a Worker’s Eyes’ luncheon will feature speakers from local organisations that support the prevention of, response to and recovery from gender-based violence.
Speakers will share their insights and experiences around the importance of primary prevention education, collective organisational responses to community members impacted by gender-based violence, and how to support survivors through the journey to recovery.
The event is being held from 11am to 1pm at Shepparton Art Museum, 530 Wyndham St, Shepparton.
The community is invited to this free event, with tickets and information available at facebook.com/GSFVPN
