As part of the musician’s tour to launch his new album, Sublimation, Salter will perform at Tallygaroopna Memorial Hall on Friday, October 20, accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Jethro Pickett and supported by First Nations songwriter Warren Mason.
Singer-songwriter Shanikwa AJ, a proud Yorta Yorta, Bundjalong woman, has also been announced as the support act.
The three-month tour started in September and includes Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
Salter has been commended as one of Australia’s most distinctive and heart-wrenching voices and has flourished in the music industry for decades.
His illustrious CV of musical prowess includes being a founding member of Giants of Science, The Gin Club and three-time ARIA-nominated Wilson Pickers, releasing more than 30 solo and collaborative albums, gracing stages worldwide, and sharing the spotlight with international acts such as The Counting Crows, Cat Power, and The Violent Femmes.
Salter’s career has been punctuated by collaborations with esteemed artists such as Bernard Fanning (Powderfinger), Emily Wurramara and Tim Rogers (You Am I).
Rogers, frontman of You Am I, described Salter as “one of Australia’s best singers, and if I weren’t so God damn competitive, one of its best songwriters as well”.
