The completed works include new stormwater pipes and pits, 224 metres of new kerb and channel on the western side of John Street, and 120 metres of new footpaths to provide a safer, direct route to the skate park and BMX track.
The new footpath creates a crucial link to the Rail Trail and Walker Street, improving pedestrian connectivity.
The car park has been resurfaced with a new stone seal and parking bays are set to be marked, finalising the project.
The project was funded through Federation Council's internal programs and the Australian Government's Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
Federation Council Mayor Cheryl Cook said the improvements were testament to council’s dedication to providing safe and accessible spaces for our community.
“The new footpath will significantly enhance pedestrian safety, particularly for young people accessing the Skate Park and BMX track, and the upgraded parking area will make visits more convenient for everyone,” Cr Cook said.
“We are delighted to have delivered these enhancements, which not only improve safety but also create better connections within our community.
“The funding from the LRCI program has been instrumental in allowing us to undertake these critical works.”
Council anticipates that the upgraded facilities will be well-received by the community and will contribute to the ongoing enjoyment of the Corowa Skate Park and BMX track.
The line marking for the carpark will be completed in the coming weeks, finalising the project.
