In his letter to readers, principal Jay Sutton explains what’s on offer for students at St Augustine’s College and how the foundation for success blooms a lifetime of opportunity.
At St Augustine's College, we are deeply committed to ensuring that every student is equipped with the skills, knowledge and confidence to pursue their chosen career pathways.
Our comprehensive approach to education is designed to meet the diverse needs of our students, whether they are aspiring to university, vocational education and training (VET), or entering the workforce through apprenticeships.
Over the past two years, we have seen exceptional outcomes in our academic programs, particularly in the area of ATAR results.
These achievements reflect the hard work of our students and the dedication of our teaching staff, who provide a supportive and challenging learning environment.
Many of our graduates have successfully gained entry into a wide range of university programs, from science and engineering to arts and education.
These opportunities are a testament to the rigorous academic preparation our students receive, which sets them up for success in higher education.
In addition to our strong academic program, St Augustine's College has a thriving VET program that offers students practical, hands-on experience in various trades and industries.
Our VET program is highly successful, with students securing apprenticeships throughout the year.
These apprenticeships provide invaluable real-world experience, enabling students to transition smoothly into the workforce with a solid foundation in their chosen fields.
Our partnerships with local businesses play a crucial role in this success, offering students the opportunity to gain experience and secure employment before they even graduate.
Looking to the future, we have taken proactive steps to ensure that career education begins early at St Augustine's College.
In 2024, we introduced a dedicated careers pathway as part of the curriculum for our Year 7 and 8 students.
This initiative is designed to help younger students explore different career options, understand their strengths and interests, and begin to set goals for their future.
Building on this foundation, we are excited to extend this program into Years 9 and 10 in 2025.
By embedding career education into the curriculum at an early stage, we aim to provide our students with the guidance and support they need to make informed decisions about their future pathways.
At St Augustine's College, we believe that every student deserves the opportunity to succeed, whether their journey leads them to university, an apprenticeship, or another vocational pathway.
We are proud of the achievements of our students and remain committed to supporting them in every step of their educational journey.
