Successful start to debutante season

Three community debutante balls for 2025 have been hosted this year, with another four still to come.

The first three balls were held on Friday, March 28, Saturday, March 29 and Saturday, April 5.

The balls were hosted by RivADance, led by Robyn Hayes and Collette May, who train the debutantes and their partners and co-ordinate the events.

Ms May said the balls were successful.

“They were a huge success. The balls unite young adults and their families, creating lasting memories,” she said.

“It gives the youth of today the opportunity to learn how to actually dance with a partner.

“Students from local and surrounding schools, as well as workforce participants, can join our balls as they are community-based and not school affiliated.”

RivADance has been hosting Community Debutante Balls since 2008 at the Rich River Golf Club, continuing on a 17-year partnership.

The dances performed by the young couples are well rehearsed and set to modern music, moving beyond the traditional waltz usually seen at these events.

The next few balls will be held on Friday, May 30, Saturday, May 31, Friday, June 27 and Saturday, June 28.
