The Victorian Government’s next creative industries strategy, Creative State, is being developed, and community input has been called for through a public consultation process.
State Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes encouraged residents to complete the online survey and voice their ideas, visions and expectations for the local creative scene.
“Our creative community impacts our everyday lives in so many ways by entertaining us, enhancing education, promoting social cohesion, improving liveability and wellbeing and boosting our economy and global reputation,” she said.
This call to action isn’t limited to professionals within the arts sector either.
Whether a busy parent who loves reading, a film enthusiast, or someone seeking more creativity in daily life, all input is valuable and will help steer investments and initiatives in the arts sector for the next three years and beyond.
To ensure a thorough consultation, a discussion paper exploring challenges and opportunities in creative industries is also available to complete.
Community members are encouraged to delve into these topics and submit their ideas, solutions and feedback, which will be integral to shaping the upcoming strategy.
Since the inception of the state’s first creative strategy in 2016, numerous initiatives have come to fruition, including the First Peoples Art and Design Fair and the redevelopment of the Geelong Arts Centre.
In addition to the online consultation, the Creative Victoria First Peoples Direction Circle is leading a parallel process to identify best support for First Peoples creative industries.
The Creative State strategy consultation process is open to all Victorians until August 26.
