The Stride4Stroke campaign encouraged participants to get active, raise funds and spread awareness about how regular exercise can reduce the risk of stroke.
For Chloe, 16, the cause was close to home as her dad suffered a stroke back in 2016.
Although her initial target was $500, she increased her goal to $2000 after receiving immense support from the community, having raised $1600 only a week into her campaign.
Chloe said she was proud of the support she had received from the community and her family.
“My goal was only $500 because I actually didn't even think I'd meet my $500 goal,” she said.
“I'm really proud of seeing everyone come together more than anything and just the support from other people.
“It's honestly the best outcome I think I could have asked for and I’m really proud of myself and my family for taking it on and trying to make a bit of a difference in the world.”
After her success during Stride4Stroke, Chloe said she would take up the challenge again.
“I think it’s a good thing to continue on,” she said.
“Whether we raise as much money again, I’m not sure, but every little bit matters, it will still make a bit of an impact.”
Across Australia, a total of 1754 people and 278 teams took part in the Stride4Stroke campaign and raised more than $400,000.
The money will go towards supporting programs and resources that help educate Australians about how to prevent and manage strokes.
