Chief executive Leah Taaffe said it’s great to be involved in the weekend - something they’ve done essentially every year.
“It’s fantastic to be able to do this with Riverboats. We’ve been a community partner with Riverboats for a long time, and this is about our 11th year doing this,” she said.
“So it’s a fantastic opportunity for us to raise some funds for our Opening Doors project and to educate the people in the community and those who visit about what we do as an organisation.”
As well as some great merchandise, this year CLRS are selling raffle tickets with some excellent prizes, some including an e-bike tour of Winery or vouchers to the Opa Greek Tavern and the Murray River Tea Room.
“We’re selling some very special hats, some blankets and coffee cups and other bits and pieces on the weekend for people to use while they’re at the festival,” she said.
“We’ve got four great prizes for people, and the main prize is always a double weekend pass to next year’s Riverboats Music Festival.
“Our raffle is online this year, so we’re asking people to scan our QR code and buy their tickets online, making it much easier to sell (them).”
The money raised on the weekend will go towards their housing project, Opening Doors, which helps build affordable housing accessible to people living with a disability.
“We’ve just opened a home or two homes in Spoonbill St in Moama, and these funds will help us drive and design and get our next project off the ground,” Ms Taaffe said.
She said it’s great to be a part of community events like the Riverboats Music Festival.
“We’ve got people of all abilities helping, so as we sell the tickets, that’s really valuable because they get an opportunity to showcase the skill and talent and opportunity that they have.
“It’s important for everybody to see how capable each of us are, which gives us a really nice opportunity to do that.
“The weather is going to be absolutely perfect. It’s a fabulous weekend, and the town needs people to get out and about and enjoy what we have to offer. So I encourage everybody to participate and to enjoy the weekend.”
