The biggest clash in Echuca-Moama is once again headed over the river as Moama and Echuca United return to the fields and courts of the Murray League following the COVID-19 lockdown.
Following two weeks of cancelled games, the season will resume with the the second staging of the Three Jacks Cup for 2021.
And the cup won't have to travel far for the day, with it sitting comfortably in Moama's trophy cabinet after the Magpies swept the Eagles across all grades of the competition earlier this season.
Moama coach Luke Eldridge said his team was excited to be back on the park.
“It's just good to be back,” he said.
“The break has freshened us up nicely It's given us an opportunity to work through some things, tweak parts of the game plan and be ready to go again.”
For Moama, a strong back half of the season is going to be key to making finals.
“I think the next block of three games is going to be essential for us,” he said.
“We want to play finals. While it's not everything for the season, it's naturally what we want to do, and we know as a side if we want to make it, we just have to keep winning.”
United coach Adam Sutherland said there had been a lot of growth in his team since the last clash between the sides.
“We've been able to see some really strong individual improvements within our group,” Sutherland said.
“That's not always going to show on the scoreboard, but it provides a really good feeling within the group to know we are making progress.
“Coming back from the break has its challenges. We haven't really been able to train as a group, but it also came at a good time in many ways as our injuries were piling up.
“We're still building and working on our group and how we play together, so it will be good to get back out on the field.”
On the netball court, the young Eagles face off against a Moama side who once again look like being a serious contender.
While United continues to build a young side for the future, the Magpies are looking to once again contend for a title.
Moama coach Jodie Lake said her team was ready to go.
“We're just really excited to be back this weekend,” she said.
“We've been doing the work away from the court, we had a strong set of structures and systems in place in the first half of the season that has been really good for us.
“What is important is coming out for the game this week, continuing to work on those structures and playing our best netball.”
