The Broadway St and Gemmell St intersection in Cobram was swarming with police, SES units, ambulances and the CFA after reports of a collision at 3.10pm.
Police believe a vehicle failed to give way, colliding with two vehicles on Broadway St.
One of the two vehicles was waiting to turn into Gemmell St and the other was driving along Broadway St.
Two people were taken to hospital for observation.
Investigations are still ongoing.
According to those living in the area, the intersection is notorious for collisions with one resident at the scene saying something needed to be done urgently.
A comment made on social media regarding the crash, which received community support, urged the installation of lights or roundabouts down the length of Broadway St.
The day after the crash, Moira Shire Council chair of the panel of administrators, John Tanner, personally went to see the intersection and said he understood public concerns, noting the heavy traffic at peak times.
“Whilst Broadway St is a VicRoads-controlled road, I do understand that residents in that area have experienced a number of incidents,” he said.
“I will request a report on incidents that have occurred at this intersection from council staff and if this requires us to bring it to the attention of VicRoads, then council will do so.”
Mr Tanner said the recent accident highlighted the importance of driving in an appropriate manner, particularly during busy traffic times, and complying with speed limits.
