Tickets have gone on sale for Echuca-Moama Theatre Company’s latest production.
And you won’t want to miss it.
Little Shop of Horrors will have you dancing in your seat as it takes you back to the 1960s, complete with Motown music, black comedy and a sprinkling of sci-fi horror.
It has been a long time coming. The show was initially set to take to the stage last year, but COVID-19 restrictions stopped it in its tracks.
This year, the cast and crew are as ready as ever to bring the show to life at Echuca's Paramount theatre.
And with less than two weeks until opening night, the countdown is on.
Director Glen McFadden is feeling super-excited — and a bit nervous — about the next few weeks.
‘‘It seems like everyone is coming together, as the actors are so much more like their characters,’’ he said.
‘‘The songs sound great and get better every day and the pieces of the puzzle, such as the set, props and of course the plant Audrey II, are slowly coming together, which will bring the show to life.’’

Based on the 1960 black comedy film, Little Shop of Horrors tells the story of insecure and put-upon florist’s clerk Seymour (played by Darcy Elliott) who pines for co-worker Audrey (Tamara Cadd).
During a total eclipse, he discovers an unusual plant he names Audrey II (voiced by Gerard Oman and puppeteered by Jamison McFadden), which feeds only on human flesh and blood.
The growing plant attracts a great deal of business for the previously struggling store, owned by Mr Mushnik (Mark Thomson).
However, after Seymour feeds Audrey’s egotistical dentist boyfriend, Orin (Ethan O’Brien), to the plant after his accidental death, he must come up with more bodies for the increasingly bloodthirsty plant.
‘‘Little Shop is such a cool show and I want to make sure the show is given the treatment it deserves so everyone will love this as much as I do,’’ Mr McFadden said.
‘‘See this talented cast for yourself as they will certainly impress you. You’re in for a treat.
‘‘It’s a hugely entertaining and funny show, with great music and, of course, a huge plant that will hopefully impress the crowds.’’
Seven performances of Little Shop of Horrors will be held, on May 21 to 23 and May 28 and 29.
