The Deniliquin Town Hall clock tower has been brought back to life as part of the town hall revamp.
The clock chimes will be turned on again today, signalling a new era and ringing in the Christmas cheer.
Edward River Mayor Peta Betts and her fellow councillors will hold a brief ceremony today at 11.55am.
All are welcome to attend and hear the iconic sound up close once again.
Maree is a very worthy winner
The Deniliquin Lions Club Christmas stocking was a well sought after prize, filled with items to have Christmas all sorted for the winner.
This year’s lucky winner has been announced and Maree Pisasale is going to be very popular with her family this Christmas.
After suffering some health set backs this year, Mrs Pisasale says it helps make Christmas extra special.
“I was so surprised to get the call and totally gobsmacked to say the least about the size of the stocking,” she said.
“All my Christmas shopping done in the one hit, at a time when I have been the most disorganised in all my life.
“A huge thank you to the Deniliquin Lions Club and all the wonderful people that donated the gifts. They have all gone to a very useful purpose.”
Lion Geoff Riley said while the fundraising total from the raffle is yet to be collated, it was a "very successful raffle this year and we are delighted for the winner”.
Fill out the flood survey
Edward River Council have just released round two of the Floods Business Impact survey.
The NSW Government Floods Business Impact Survey asks you to provide information of the financial impacts facing the business community due to storm and flood.
The results collected from this survey will help inform decisions around potential further support and assistance for those communities and businesses who have been impacted.
It should only take five minutes to complete.

It’s no too late to show your generosity and give to those less fortunate in the community, thanks to the Deni Local Health Advistory COmmittee’s Tree of Giving.
Unwrapped gifts can be placed under the tree located in the Deniliquin Hospital foyer.
Toys and food can also be delivered directly to Homes Out West and food and Christmas goods can be delivered to St George Bank.
Gifts placed under the hospital tree - which will be accepted until this Friday - will be delivered to Homes Out West to distribute.
Locomotive chugs quietly into town ....... did you spot it ?
A private touring company chugged into town on the weekend in a locomotive, and the travellers couldn’t have picked a nicer weekend for a town visit.
Once in town the passengers could spend their day however they liked.
We hope they spent time exploring our beautiful town, and supported local businesses at the same time.
Hopefully they saw what we see and plan to come back again one day.
Local drone operator Lachlan Byrne got this picture of the train quietly leaving Deni after its visit.
PT Xmas break
The Deniliquin Pastoral Times team will be taking a short break over the Christmas period.
The office will close at noon on Friday, December 23 and will re-open at 8.30am on Wednesday, December 28.
Unlike other public holidays, journalists will not be available during this time.
As a result, there will not be an edition of the Pastoral Times printed on Tuesday, December 27.
The Deniliquin Pastoral Times management and staff would like to wish everybody a wonderful Christmas and a very happy and safe New Year.
