Council arborists carry out safety inspections of trees in areas that are deemed high risk, particularly around parks, buildings and along roadsides. This tree, located in the Echuca Port area, was removed on May 11, for posing an immediate risk to public safety. People who are concerned about the safety of a particular tree can contact the council to request an inspection, and a subsequent inspection will be performed either immediately or within a 24-hour period. Trees of concern may have broken branches that are likely to fall on to the road, footpath or driveway; they may be suddenly leaning, have recent cracks in the soil or have roots coming out of the ground; they may have cracks or splits through the trunk; or may be fallen trees on public land.
