About 6pm on Monday, March 6, a utility was allegedly stolen by two men from the driveway of a home in Davidson St, Deniliquin.
When the owner, a 24-year-old man, tried to stop the vehicle, he was allegedly assaulted before the vehicle was driven away.
The matter was reported to officers from Murray River Police District, who commenced an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
On Tuesday, March 7, the allegedly stolen utility was involved in a pursuit with police in the Moama area.
The vehicle was later found abandoned on Racecourse Rd, Deniliquin.
Following inquiries, about 3pm on Wednesday, March 8, two men were arrested at a house on Sloane St, Deniliquin.
They were taken to Deniliquin Police Station where they were charged.
A 26-year-old man has been charged with stealing a motor vehicle, taking and driving conveyance without consent of owner, police pursuit, driving while disqualified, entering enclosed lands without lawful excuse, stealing, and stalking/intimidation with the intention of fear/physical harm.
A 23-year-old man was charged with take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, and assault.
The men were refused bail to appear at Albury Local Court on Thursday, March 9.
The outcome of the court appearance is not yet known.
