Two thieves broke into Boats and More on Northern Hwy about 2.15am and stole a 1998 Toyota LandCruiser Troop Carrier, an outboard engine, welder, tools and a tool box, valued about $30,000.
Boats and More director Simon Ryan said it was disappointing news to wake up to.
“It’s a big kick in the guts,” he said.
“We’re all struggling to keep working and our doors open in a tough climate, and for this to happen, it just hurts.”
The theft of the LandCruiser, registration QJN455, meant he would have to find another work vehicle.
“We use it to tow boats to the boat ramp and pick up parts,” he said.
“It means we don’t have that accessibility anymore, and vehicles like this aren’t easy to come by.
“It’s a terrible situation to be in. With all that’s going on with COVID, this is the last thing we need to deal with.”
Detective Senior Constable Troy Wickham of Echuca Criminal Investigation Unit said police were investigating.
“We’re reviewing CCTV footage and making inquiries,” he said.
“We are appealing to anyone who saw the vehicle or anything suspicious this morning to contact police.”
