Rochester residents and community groups are invited to consider how they can attract more tourists to visit their town.
A government spokesperson made the announcement in December, 2023.
“Towns with a population of up to 5000 people in the 48 local government areas of regional Victoria are eligible to apply,” the spokesperson said.
“The new Tiny Towns Fund will support local communities to deliver quality tourism and community facility projects such as splash parks and bike trails, playgrounds, community hall and library upgrades, public art and more.”
The amount of money for the grants will range between $5000 and $50,000 and applicants will be required to make a co-contribution towards the proposed project budget in line with the requirements outlined in the program guidelines.
As part of the process applicants will be asked to describe the proposed project that will show a direct benefit to the town and its community through alignment with the Tiny Town Fund objectives.
The fund is open to ideas and applications from incorporated not-for-profit community organisations.
Applicants are encouraged to contact the Department of Skills, Jobs, Industry and Regions on 1800 878 969. The contact centre is open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Applications close at 5pm on Sunday, February 25.
