As the federal election draws near, Voices for Nicholls members say they are remaining active in advocating for the community.
The group has invited residents to a meeting in Echuca on Wednesday, April 16 at the Caledonian Hotel, focused on water policy implications for Nicholls.
Guest speaker Daryl Poole of RM Consulting Group and district farmers will give context to the discussion and provide information on the issue of water.
Subsequent discussions will provide insights on how Voices for Nicholls can advocate effectively in this space.
The group have been holding community conversations throughout the electorate of Nicholls and continue to do so.
Information from these conversations is being used to question and inform the current member for Nicholls and the other six candidates running for the electorate.
Community consultation has identified access to GPs and health services, housing, and cost of living among the key issues impacting people in the region, while water remains a high priority.
Water is seen as a critical issue locally as debate continues around water requirements for the environment and for agriculture, a complicated and emotional issue.
Anyone interested in knowing more about Voices for Nicholls or the water conversation is welcome to attend the meeting at the Caledonian Hotel from 5.30pm on Wednesday.
