White Night is a one-night festival of light and sound which has operated in Melbourne, Bendigo and Geelong.
The festival, which will come to Shepparton for the first time on June 25, will be based at Victoria Park Lake and the Shepparton Art Museum extending through Aquamoves to Monash Park along Welsford St.
The full program lists 17 works, including displays from Yorta Yorta artists Mimi Leung, Aunty Frances Nicholson, Tori and Tahnee Day and Dylan Charles.
City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Kim O’Keeffe said the event was not to be missed.
“Hosting White Night is an incredible experience for our region, as this will not be like anything they have put together before,” Cr O’Keeffe said.
“Unique to our region’s environment and community, the program showcases works focused on Indigenous culture, multiculturalism and native animals, flora and fauna.”
“We are working closely with local businesses, community organisations and artists to make sure this event is a success.”
Local businesses are encouraged to get in touch with council’s visitor economy team to discuss how to leverage this event to maximise the visitor experience and expenditure across the region’s businesses for the weekend.
White Night organisers are expecting 30,000 people to come to the event, with as much as $3 million to be pumped into the Shepparton economy.
Businesses can register their special offers and trading hours for the weekend and have them listed on Visit Shepparton. For further business discussions email info@visitshepparton.com.au or phone 5832 9330.
