Eighty pilots flew into the aerodrome to showcase their unique aircraft designs to plane spotters and locals alike.
The fly-in was organised by the RV Aircraft Association Australia, which is a community of RV aircraft owners and enthusiasts.
RVs are a type of aircraft that come in a kit to be assembled.
They were developed by kit plane manufacturer Richard “Van” VanGrunsven in 1973.
“RV aircraft are small and can be either home built, or factory built,” Bendigo Aviation Services head of operations Rod Jouning said.
Mr Jouning said pilots from across Australia flew into Echuca’s Aerodrome for the event.
“A large group of enthusiasts all flew in, had their general meeting and then spent the weekend in Echuca Moama.
“We had people come in from Western Australia and I understand there were some from Queensland as well.”
The pilots put on a show of aerobatic displays for all the aircraft enthusiasts, spectators and visitors at the fly-in event.
Mr Jouning said Echuca Aero Club was an ideal host for the fly in because it lay on the border of two states.
“They picked here primarily because of the Echuca-Moama location, but also because the council doesn’t currently charge landing fees.”
This is the first time the RVAAA has held the event in Echuca.
“From the discussions that I was hearing, they’re very keen to come back here again,” Mr Jouning said.
He said events such as the Echuca Aerodrome fly-in benefited the towns of Echuca and Moama greatly by attracting visitors from across Australia.
“It was a great opportunity for the whole town because these crowds can help to put their money back into the Echuca-Moama region and community,” Mr Jouning said.
“Everybody had a great time. It was a very good weekend.”
