Shepparton’s iconic Yahoobar made a triumphant return on Saturday, bringing its legendary party scene back to life in a vibrant celebration marking what would’ve been its 25th anniversary.
Former regulars and newcomers gathered on the dance floor, reigniting the energy of a venue that had once been their favourite party haven.
Founded by Damian Murdoch and friends, Yahoobar closed its doors in 2018 after two decades of setting the tone for Shepparton’s party scene.
Its revival wasn’t just a milestone but a collective journey down memory lane.
With over 100 attendees on Saturday, the atmosphere pulsed with joy and nostalgia as people danced to DJ Andy Van’s tunes, revisiting iconic songs from decades past.
Memories created within those walls resonated with those who once again filled the dance floor and shared laughter into the early hours.
The 25th-anniversary celebration served as a fitting tribute, uniting the community once more to relive the moments that made Yahoobar an integral part of Shepparton’s collective story.
Lou, a former barmaid who had experience working in hospitality across Shepparton and Europe, was asked at the last minute to help the “boys” open the venue and highlighted the positive vibes that defined it.
“We opened it up, and it was one of those whims that was only ever positive,” she said.
“It was a really positive place to come and be.
“Everyone always had a good time.”
Attendees such as Kirry, who used to attend the venues on Friday nights with her friends, expressed how much she enjoyed the reunion.
“I was here 10 years ago,” she said.
“It’s really nice seeing the community getting back together.
“There’s no drama.
“I am really happy (about the reunion) and hope everyone enjoys their night.”
But according to Emma, Yahoobar was more than just a club.
“My favourite memory of Yahoobar is that everybody was safe,” she said.
“You could walk in and sit at the back, or you could be dancing on the pole behind the DJ, and you were always in a safe place.
“Everybody was welcome, that’s what made it so special’.
On a night filled with laughter, dancing and special memories, the legendary venue made a powerful comeback, leaving everyone with a renewed appreciation for the place that had shaped many unforgettable moments.
