The Zimbabwean ace proved the difference as Bamawm-Lockington United scored a three-wicket victory against a plucky Echuca South on Saturday.
Chakabva strolled to the crease at Bamawm with the home side in early trouble at 2-10, chasing down Echuca South’s total of 141.
His class was evident from the get-go, steering the Lions’ ship back on course in a 79-run partnership for the third wicket with Liam Hamilton.
Hamilton followed up his half-century from the previous week with a solid 28 until he fell to Shanaka Silva.
Chakabva continued on his merry way, reaching his first half-century in BLU colours.
He hit eight fours and two impressive sixes in a stylish 70 before Silva brought him unstuck.
Chakabva’s departure at 5-117 meant the game was in the balance, but handy cameos from Joseph Holloway (13) and ultimately Amila Gunathilaka (10 not out) steered the Lions to success.
Despite the defeat, the Swans should be heartened by their performance.
Spinner Silva completed an impressive match, taking 3-31 from 10 overs, having earlier helped the Swans add 29 runs to their overnight total.
Paceman Shaun Haffenden (3-24) also shone for Echuca South.
The Swans had another bat in their second innings, reaching 4-68 at stumps.
