_ End of the line (Travelling Wilburys)
THERE isn't much left to say for the isolation diaries, is there?
How can you write about your isolation when you're no longer isolated?
Things are far from perfect. We are still limited to a large extent in what we are able to do.
We can't have as many people over as we would like, we can't stand at a bar and drink a few beers like at the start of the year.
But, I honestly ask the question, who cares?
It may be a symptom of the situation, but I'm happy to celebrate the progress.
We will soon enter week two of step three of being able to travel outside our houses for whatever reason we would like, going around Victoria and enjoying being outside the house.
Our towns are once again united, we can go wherever we want, spend time with our friends - and for some lucky people - families.
The AFL finals are just over a week away, which is worth celebrating even if your team was awful this year and finished fourth from the bottom.
This is progress, all of this is good news.
Is it perfect?
No, of course it isn't.
But we are on that road now.
There are next to no cases in regional Victoria, and we are having days where we don't get any cases at all.
As I'm writing this on Tuesday morning, we are down to 20 regional active cases.
The numbers in metropolitan Melbourne are also going down.
We are regularly - as a state - seeing numbers under 30 a day, which is huge when you consider not long ago it was more than 700 a day.
There are no new cases of community outside of hotel quarantine in NSW, and the NSW-SA border is re-opening.
Every day there is another small step towards normality.
If we keep this up, we are headed for Christmas with loved ones.
Everything's coming up Milhouse.
So, enjoy the freedom you have.
Go to the park, walk around and eat an ice cream, have a meal sitting down at a local establishment.
Celebrate where we are at.
Be happy.
We are a long way off, but maybe we might get there sometime soon.
