It was scary because I didn’t know how much of them I would see; they’re my best friends, after all.
But then everything was fine.
I constantly see them; I go home, they come to me, everything is great.
Although we see each other more than this, every Tuesday, my family come over to watch the latest episode of Taskmaster.
Now I love this show. It makes me giggle and I believe it’s made me cry because I was laughing so hard.
Of course, Taskmaster UK has some brilliant seasons and Taskmaster NZ season two is my favourite season ever.
But this season of the Australian version is bloody great.
Yes, Tom Cashman is a great assistant; yes, I am in love with Aaron Chen; yes, Concetta Caristo makes me giggle.
But what really makes this season special is the people around me when I watch it.
Tuesdays are usually forgettable, but now they’re what I look forward to.
I get to make dinner for the people I love and catch up about their days and move to the couches and put on a brilliant show.
I just love my family, so having at least one guaranteed day that we’ll spend together makes my week go smooth.
However, I also want to shout out Taskmaster NZ again because it has some of my favourite comedians ever on it: Urzila Carlson, Guy Montgomery, David Correos, Paul Williams.
Ray O’Leary.
Whom I had the absolute pleasure to interview ahead of his upcoming show in Shepparton. He was such a stand-up guy, pun intended.
After we finished the interview, I’d pressed ‘stop record’ and I had no more questions, but we just chatted for a bit.
He took time out of his day to have a chat with some random 20-year-old journalist, asking him questions he’s answered before.
I was absolutely starstruck, and I still am.
So thank you Taskmaster, for introducing me to brilliant comedians, for making me laugh, but most importantly for being a part of my family’s routine.
