We have achieved a lot through working with our customers in recent years.
Their feedback has helped guide the revised operating rules for Loch Garry, the Broken System Reconfiguration Study, and various aspects of our 2024-28 pricing submission.
In 2025, there will be even more major opportunities for customers to work with us and make a difference. Our new customer committees will be a great option for people eager to do this.
The customer committees will replace the previous water service committees.
They will focus on various initiatives such as scenario planning for G-MW’s drought and climate action responses, asset maintenance and replacement, advising on G-MW’s pricing submission for 2028-32, considering research into the future of water availability, and improvements to G-MW’s services and customer experience.
Expressions of interest for the customer committees will open on January 27 and run for three weeks.
I am looking forward to working with the committees once they are formed later in the year.
Committee members serve as customer representatives, helping us ensure our services align with our customers’ priorities.
However, there are many other opportunities for customers to have their say on matters outside of these committees.
The Pumped Irrigation Districts Future Services Strategy is one such example.
The strategy focuses on the Nyah, Tresco and Woorinen districts.
Land and water use has changed significantly in these districts over the years and there are also challenges associated with ageing infrastructure.
Through one-on-one discussions, as well as information and drop-in sessions, we are learning more about the needs of our pumped irrigation customers, which will help us understand the infrastructure and service requirements that will support them best.
In the coming months, we will also be engaging with our Loch Garry flood protection customers to get their feedback on the future state of the Loch Garry flood regulator and the flood protection service it provides.
We have been working with a community reference group to investigate potential options for the future of the infrastructure and the service and are nearing the point where we can share these findings.
Plenty more opportunities for customer engagement will arise as the year progresses and I strongly encourage customers to give their input when they get the chance.
We want to do all we can to support a thriving agriculture sector in our region, and we are best placed to do this when we work together.

We will also have a stall at this year’s International Dairy Week at Tatura Park, where staff will be available to speak to customers and answer any questions they may have.
