POLICE are investigating the alleged assault of a traffic controller in Moama on Tuesday, January 12.
Murray River Police District Inspector Paul Huggett said police received a report about an assault outside the Moama Post Office in Meninya St about 4.10pm.
Insp Huggett said a 48-year-old man had suffered minor injuries after allegedly being punched by a 52-year-old Echuca man.
“There were numerous witnesses and it was recorded by CCTV cameras,” he said.
“There are counter allegations that the victim had previously damaged the accused’s vehicle the day before.”
The traffic controller allegedly threw a stop sign at the man’s car, smashing its window, about 4.30pm on January 11 after the man ignored his traffic directions.
“The man has apparently gone back to the same place the next day to confront him about the window,” Insp Huggett said.
Insp Huggett said police were reviewing CCTV footage and there would likely be charges laid.
Anyone with information about the incidents can contact Moama police on 5482 0099 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
