Steve Bennett, who is working in Mathoura, said his white 2001 Nissan Patrol was taken from Moama St between 9.30pm on Friday, February 12, and the following morning.
‘‘It was in a paddock with a ‘for sale’ sign on it,’’ he said.
‘‘It was locked, so they smashed the window and drove it through the fence.
‘‘It’s not insured either, so there’s $25,000 gone.’’
Mr Bennett said the car meant a lot to him and he’d bought it new almost 20 years ago.
‘‘I was regretting selling it but I bought another ute and I needed the money to pay for that one,’’ he said.
‘‘I wasn’t using it a whole heap so I kept it in really good condition. It's got a canopy on it and looks really smart.
‘‘I'm really broken hearted.
‘‘Whoever stole it is the lowest of the low.’’
Mr Bennett has reported the theft to police, who are investigating.
Anyone who has seen the ute, with registration QZD 632, or has information can phone Moama police on 5482 0099 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
