Police have shed more light on the collision in Shepparton on Wednesday night, which involved nine vehicles and claimed one life.
Police say a Toyota HiAce van and eight other vehicles collided at the intersection of Nixon and Welsford streets, before the van came to a stop on Welsford St about 5pm on July 31.
A 58-year-old man, who was a passenger in the van, was taken to hospital with injuries and later died.
He was from the north-eastern Melbourne suburb of Bellfield.
The driver of the van was a 25-year-old Shepparton man, and was among those taken to hospital after the incident.
Also hospitalised were a 57-year-old Mooroopna woman, who was a passenger in the van, and a 48-year-old Shepparton woman, who was driving a Nissan Dualis.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
