Shepparton police Detective Acting Sergeant Lance Wiltshire said one of the stolen vehicles was allegedly used to evade police initially, before being located in bushland near Coomboona by Victoria Police airwing.
He said three of the boys were arrested there while the other two stolen vehicles were recovered from an address in Mooroopna and the other three boys arrested.
Two of the cars were allegedly stolen from greater Melbourne and the other from the Bendigo area.
The investigation and arrest involved members from Shepparton and Mooroopna police, Shepparton Criminal Investigation Unit and Shepparton and Campaspe Highway Patrol units, with assistance from Victoria Police airwing.
A Mooroopna boy, 16, and a Meadow Heights boy, 15, were charged with theft of the vehicles and faced a Children’s Court on Friday, March 25.
They were both released on bail to appear in court at a later date.
Two Mooroopna boys, aged 15 and 17, were charged and bailed for theft of the three vehicles.
A Shepparton boy, 17, was charged and bailed in relation to the theft of one of the vehicles.
A Mooroopna boy, 16, received a formal police caution in relation to the theft of one vehicle.
