Ball has been ranked the second best under 17 male in the world.
Meanwhile, Sands sits in first position for men over the age of 35.
Sportstar hall of famer Sands is also ranked sixth among all men having topped the slalom category across all competitors.
“I’m pretty stoked with my own result but it’s great to see Fletch doing so well,” Sands said.
“Personally, I’d like to be a little bit higher in the men’s category so hopefully I can build towards that in 2021.”
Ball and Sands missed the opportunity to ski at the World Championships in Sydney earlier this year after it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
And with stage three restrictions still in place in Victoria, Ball has been unable to get out on the water.
“Fletch is chomping at the bit to get behind the boat,” Sands said.
“He’s been asking me when he will get the opportunity so you can easily sense his excitement.
“I thought he was in red hot form right before the worlds being cancelled. There was every possibility of him winning a medal.
“He’s been staying fit during the time off so I’m looking forward to working with him again.”
Sands said he was hopeful of some smaller events going ahead later in the year which would allow the pair to return to action.
