Seymour Racing Club has seen signs of improvement in recent jump outs, however their track has been deemed to not yet be in a position to host the meeting.
The transfer means Echuca will now host four meetings in 30 days, with races on October 12 and 23, as well as Melbourne Cup day on November 3, still scheduled.
ERC general manager Garry Armstrong said the club was happy to step in and host the meeting, saying it was a clear showing of confidence in the work of the club.
“Again, this is testimony to the presentation of the Echuca track and the confidence Racing Victoria has in it and the confidence that punters have, that it gives every horse their chance to win because of the surface and evenness of the track,” Armstrong said.
“The fact that the ERC is able to assist the racing industry by being able to host transferred meeting is something that the club is very conscious of.
“The work that the track staff do in ensuring the racing surface is in the best possible condition and are able to adjust their maintenance schedule, at short notice, to host a transfer, is a real tick for their work and efforts.”
Armstrong said the club was still hoping to see a return of patrons as soon as they were allowed to.
“The ERC is working with Country Racing Victoria and Racing Victoria to ensure the path to having patrons back at the races is ready as soon as the government gives racing the nod,” he said.
“The club understands that the return of crowds to racing will bring with it a range of COVID-safe protocols that will be introduced for the safety of race goers and racing participants.
“The racing industry has worked extremely hard through the pandemic to ensure that racing was able to continue and its vital that the return to racing works hand-in-hand with the protocols are and will remain in place for some time to come.”
