After months of being locked out due to COVID restrictions, members of the Echuca Swimming Club have returned to the water in the past week for the resumption of the sport.
Echuca Swimming Club president Melissa O'Grady said it was exciting to see swimmers back in the water.
“We went back on Friday night for our first group,” she said.
“And we've had a session on Monday morning and another big group Monday night. So we've had roughly 30 swimmers back across those opening two nights.
“It was great just to have all those smiling faces back around who were really excited to get back into swimming.
“That said, there were a few exhausted by the end of the night as it's been such a long time since they've had the opportunity to be in the water.
“We've also got some senior swimmers back in the pool soon as well.
O'Grady said she hoped to see even more people in the pool in coming months.
“Hopefully the capacity of the pool has further increased by the start of term one next year so we can offer some come and try sessions for people to see what the ESC is about and what they can get out of swimming,” she said.
“We'd love to have even more people in the water.”
