Earlier this month, the NAB League club announced it will act as feeder club for Carlton and Essendon for the 2021 VFLW season.
It follows the announcement that the VFLW and NAB League Girls competitions would now be aligned with AFLW which is expected to start in February.
The Blues and Bombers have previously had a strong connection to the Bendigo area.
The regional city was formerly Carlton’s recruiting zone while Essendon had a VFL alignment with Bendigo for nine years.
“We're going to be aligned with Essendon and Carlton's VFLW teams, which is really exciting,” Pioneers head coach Damian Truslove told Australian Community Media.
“What this means for our top-age girls is if they perform well for us in the NAB League there will be a chance for them to get promoted to either Essendon or Carlton's VFL team during the season.
“So with this we feel there's a really strong pathway now for female football from community football to the Pioneers and then onto the VFLW.
“We think this is a great opportunity for our girls.”
Echuca-Moama pair Jayda Richardson and Madison Elliott have been named in the Pioneers’ pre-season training squad which now has 38 players.
Training will start on Sunday, November 22.
