Our new members are progressing very well and enjoying their croquet every Monday.
We had a new member arrive this week, her name is Lynne and she showed some natural talent.
When Lynne gets a few games under her belt she will be one to watch out for.
It was very windy on the courts but nothing will stop our members from playing the game and having some fun.
Hats flew off but the best one was John Tarrant who has a new wizz bang water cooled one.
We hope it will make him cooler and better in the hot weather.
On Tuesday, several members played at Rich River for a social day for the first time since the virus began.
We hope other clubs start up again with their social days as well.
Trevor Peters from Echuca won three games with a nett hoop score of +11 and Leo Barry from Deniliquin also won three games with a net hoop score of +11.
It was a great day and everyone enjoyed themselves.
Rich River
The club celebrated the camaraderie of croquet, inviting three clubs to a social day on Tuesday this week.
While the Victorian-NSW border has been closed, many players were cut off from their clubs.
Deniliquin, Kyabram, Echuca Moama and Rich River all welcomed members from other clubs or had members who played at other clubs, and Rich River were pleased to host a day of appreciation.
In all, 32 players competed in three games of doubles, all played in great friendliness and good spirits, and by all accounts everyone had a great day.
At the end of all those hoops, the day’s result was a dead heat.
Trevor Peters of Echuca Moama and Leo Barry of Deniliquin tied on three games and a nett hoop score of +11.
And small trophies were awarded to Trevor and Brad Fawns of Deniliquin for scoring hoops in one.
After the competition, the group headed to the James Maiden bistro for an enjoyable lunch.
Following lunch, a dozen or so players headed back to the courts for a final game, off the record, saying that they wanted another opportunity to play on the excellent courts at Rich River.
In golf croquet pennant last week, the Kangas had a very close match, with both teams winning six games each.

At present the Kangas are second on the GVCA pennant ladder, and the Emus are fifth, with two more rounds to play.
Rich River was due to play Numurkah in association croquet pennant on Wednesday, but unfortunately Numurkah had to forfeit.
