Ball finished second overall in the junior boys International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation Junior tournament, just 1.78 points behind overall winner Brett Swanbom from America.
The telling factor between the pair was Swanbom’s perfect score in the tricks event.
Ball finished third in the slalom and jump events with overall scores of 897.73 and 932.69 respectively.
Ball’s father, Stuart, said he was extremely proud of what Fletcher had been able to achieve.
“He’s done an amazing job in really difficult circumstances,” Stuart said.
“He was looking forward to competing in person in Sydney last year but unfortunately the event wasn’t able to go ahead due to the (C)VID-19) pandemic.
“It was good that organisers were able to come up with the online concept for the event.
“Fletcher still has another junior world championships ahead of him because he is two years younger than the cut off age.
“The experience is only going to do him the world of good.”
