Residents of Echuca-Moama returned to the streets for one of their first tastes of live sport in more than a year for Saturday night's race, the main event of the multisport weekend.
In the male category it was Chris Bradford in a time of 58:04 taking the honours, while former local Madeleine Clarke took the female honours in 1:04:37.
In the teams event Team BruBurger were first across the line to claim back-to-back victories in 55:24.
Bradford was quick to heap the praise on the community for the race.
“These country triathlons are the heart and soul of racing,” he said.
“It's a pleasure to be up here, to come out of COVID restrictions and race in perfect conditions in front of a fantastic crowd.
“It's exactly what you expect from a town like this.”
It was the completion for a tough lead-up for Broadford.
“Preparation hasn't been too bad - apart from a bike crash and landing on a tiger snake - but with the year off I've been able to train pretty well and thankfully I got the outcome,” he said.
Clarke said racing in front of family and friends meant the world to her.
“It's so nice to come home and have a win,” she said.
“it's great to come back here and see some familiar faces and have the family and friends support me.
“I've trained pretty hard for this. It was super exciting knowing we could get back on the course and compete again, so really it was great just to be here.”
Team BruBurger runner Archie Reid said his team had set out to put beat the individual times.
“It was a goal we set for ourselves to have the fastest time on the course,” he said.
“It's been a year without a lot of competition, mostly just training for us all, so we wanted to give the best time we were capable of, and I think we did that in the end.”
Saturday morning saw the weekend kick off with the Moama Bowling Club junior triathlon being held at Moama beach.
Taj Walker and Esther Griffiths claimed the 7-8 section, Seb Walker and Emily Wilkinson winning 9-10, Van Lowry and Sophie Bauerle first in 11-12, and Lenny Griffiths the champion of 13-14.
The weekend closed off on Sunday with Jayden Gledhill and Ebony Ebenwaldner claiming the Morrison's Wharf to Winery swim.
