Taking over from Brayden May, Saultry will team up with Andrew Johnston to cover sport across the region.
Spending her primary years in both Cohuna and Shepparton before taking a detour to sunny Queensland, Saultry is no stranger to the Goulburn Valley.
Now she comes to the twin towns after two years spent in Benalla, where she worked in a similar sports reporting role at another of McPherson Media Group’s newspapers - the Benalla Ensign.
With a passion for celebrating local athletes’ achievements, as well as expanding the diversity of sport stories covered in the media, Saultry said she was looking forward to getting out to as many sporting events as possible.
“I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone in town, from players to coaches, officials and volunteers,” Saultry said.
“I’m excited to continue to tell the stories of this region and hope I can do those stories justice.”
Leaving the Riverine Herald team after two years, May said it was a pleasure to cover sport in his time in the twin towns.
“I couldn’t be more thankful for everyone who has given up their time to make my job much easier and a massive thank-you to everyone who has ever got in contact with a story lead,” May said.
“The excitement of football and netball returning is only continuing to grow and I wish all local teams the best in season.
“It comes off the back of a summer season where many people got back to doing what they love.
“Living in this community is unlike anything I’ve had previously and that’s what makes it one of the best places in Australia.”
