And standing in its way will be the behemoth that is Moama Bowling Club, which caused carnage in its semi-final against Rich River a fortnight ago.
Finishing well on top of the regular-season ladder with a 11-1 record, Moama sailed straight through to the grand final with a monstrous 57-shot winning performance over second-placed Rich River.
Taking the longer route to the same destination, Rich River rebounded against Mathoura in the preliminary final last weekend to set the stage for a second showdown between the division’s two best teams.
But as most know, grand finals are a different beast – and Moama won’t go in underestimating its rivals from the same side of the Murray River in its grand final bout at City of Echuca Bowls Club.
“That (semi-final) game I don’t think was the standard – it was good to win but the scores didn’t reflect the game,” Moama team manager and player Barry Brennan said.
“It gives you confidence, but this is the grand final – you don’t underestimate anyone.
“They can easily turn the tables and the next thing you know, you’re behind.”
Rich River president and player Gary Radford said the club was excited to get the chance to contend for a premiership shield after missing out in recent years.
“We’re a little club, and we’ve got a big job in front of us, so we’ll be trying hard,” Radford said.
“This is our second grand final in division one in almost 20 years, and we haven’t won one in about 21 years.”
“This is our second chance at Moama, who are a very successful club.
“We’ll go in with a positive mindset and hope to play our best bowls and endeavour to win it.”
Rich River and Moama will be well represented on grand final day with three teams across all four divisions vying for a premiership.
In division two, Rich River and Moama will also lock horns for the shield, while in division three Moama faces City of Echuca.
In the division four clash, Rich River will come up against Lockington.
Food and drinks will be available from 11 am at City of Echuca Bowls Club, with the official opening at 12.45 pm.
