Moama swept past its opponents Rich River in the division one decider at City of Echuca on Saturday, winning by a mammoth 54 shots.
In doing so, the club clinched its seventh division one premiership in 10 years.
The win capped off a dominant day on the greens for Moama, which hoisted up shields in three of the four divisions decided on the day.
Winning division one team manager and player Barry Brennan said this year's win had “a bit more” feeling to it, especially after his team missed out on playing in 2020 aborted decider due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We were in the grand final last year, so there was that thought it was an opportunity lost,” Brennan said.
“So, to get back in and win it, it is different.
“We’ve been waiting a year for this, so there is that feeing that we’ve waited so long for it.”
Walking away comfortable victors, with rink wins of 25-16, 29-11, and 36-9, Brennan said an early lead gave the team confidence to march away with the match.
“We had one rink who had a good lead, so that takes the pressure off the other rinks,” Brennan said.
“You’ve still got to win (the others) but it’s less pressure than a really close game when you have that bit of a lead.
“Everyone did their share and put in. It was a team effort and a good win.
“It was probably a bigger win than expected, but everything worked.”
With Moama Bowling Club celebrating premierships in division one, two and three, players and supporters headed back to the club to kick on and celebrate.
Moama Bowls Vice Chairperson Wayne Stephenson congratulated all four of the club's teams on their efforts this season.
“It's pretty good, especially after a very difficult year,” Stephenson said.
“We were short on some players, so to get three flags, and for our division four team to make it to the preliminary finals is fantastic. Everyone has put something into it this year.”
Stephenson said being able to celebrate as a club at the end of the day was the most satisfying part of Saturday's efforts.
“Just to be able to get everyone together as a group and make the most of celebrating together, we haven't been able to do that for close to 18 months,” he said.
“That was the highlight.”
But there will be little time to keep the party rolling, with Moama's division one side set to return to battle this weekend.
They will face the winner of Bendigo Bowls Division's division one grand final - either Kangaroo Flats or South Bendigo - on Sunday in the regional finals.
“If we win that, then we go into the state pennant final, which is being held at Moama in late April,” Brennan said.
“We have the opportunity to play on our own greens, so that’s a bit of an incentive.”
