Just weeks out from the beginning of the Goulburn Valley League season, the club produced a dominant showing, claiming the A grade decider against South Bendigo and B grade against Deniliquin.
Echuca A grade coach Stephanie Vick said the event was a great outcome for the club as the season approached.
“It's a great result,” she said.
“We've put in a lot of work during the pre-season and we are getting strong by the week, so coming away with both wins is a fantastic outcome.”
For most members of the club it was their first taste of competitive netball since the 2019 GVL finals series, and Vick said the club was relishing the opportunity to return to the court.
“It was really good to be back out there and competing,” she said.
“There is also the added bonus of the Rochester tournament in that we got to see and play against people we don't usually compete against, so we can test our game and skills against another opposition.
“Our players have been waiting so long for this opportunity to play again. It really was fantastic.”
Vick said the results will be a major confidence boost for the club going into the new season.
“It highlights that we have a bit of strength,” she said.
“We still have a bit of work to do before the season starts, and that will come, but it was a great opportunity to work out strategies and try different combinations on the court.
“You know after an event like that what will work and what can be adapted, and we have faith in that now.
“We have a goal in mind, being the premiership, and having a strong preparation like this gives us even more confidence for the season ahead.”
