The club returned to their home away from home on Sunday afternoon for a clash with local rivals in the Murray Bushrangers, claiming a strong 31-point victory.
The result leaves the Pioneers in rare air for the club, sitting on top of the NAB League ladder after five games.
Pioneers coach Danny O'Bree said it was a strong performance by the club.
“We were really pleased with how they played,” he said.
“We played some excellent footy, especially when you account half our team had only played one game this year in the NAB league.
“We played a really good brand of football.”
O'Bree held high praise for Tongala's Harley Reid, who made his debut in the top age under 19 grade as a 15-year-old.
“He's a very exciting young player,” O'Bree said.
“Being 15 and having an impact at this level is really telling. He's got a really exciting future ahead of him in the sport.
“If he keeps improving the way he's tracking, he's going to be a damn good player.”
The Pioneers have historically not been one of the dominant sides in the competition, basing their success around draft picks and development.
But O'Bree said the attitude of the top aged players this season had driven the club to a better position on field.
“The 19-year-olds have really driven the standards around the club,” he said.
“They're giving it their all, they're setting the attitude for the younger guys and showing them the way to go about it.
“And that shows on the field. The way the side is working together at every level is fantastic, it makes for a really enjoyable brand of football which is leading to success on the field.”
