Mathoura students take centre stage at district cross country

MATHOURA Public School may be considered a small school, but the sporting results of its students are far from that.

At the recent Deniliquin and District PSSA cross country event at Murray Valley Regional Park in Deniliquin, spectators saw a continuous sea of red and blue as Mathoura Public School's runners flowed across the finish line.

A strong team of 11 competitors took to the muddy track and achieved brilliant results.

Studentsâ€™ natural athleticism, hard work and determination proved extremely effectual with eight runners secured a top-10 placing, with four of those finishing in the top four and securing a spot on the Deniliquin and District squad.

This squad competed in the next stage of the cross country championships in Gundagai on Thursday, June 10.

The Mathoura Public School community wishes Matilda Eddy, Georgie Taylor, Katelyn Eddy and Khoa Unwin all the very best at this event.
