Shepparton South will face yet another away trip, taking on South Yarra, while Tatura will also be hitting the road — set to battle Diamond Valley United in their respective second qualifying round clashes.
The games will be held this weekend, with specific dates, times and venues yet to be released.
The GV sides will be raring to go for round two, with Tatura missing out on kicking a ball in round one after East Bentleigh was unable to field a side.
South on the other hand travelled to take on Montrose on Friday night and will be in red-hot form going into its next qualifying round game.
The Shepparton outfit put on a dominant display at Esther Park Reserve and Lilydale Montrose United had no answers.
Jamie De Smit opened the scoring for South, before two goals to captain Joel Aitken put the visitor up 3-0 at half-time.
The second half was much the same as the first.
William Keenan put three past the keeper in the space of 25 minutes to double his side’s lead, before a third to Aitken rounded out a massive 7-0 win.
South coach Rob Harmeston said his side still had more in the tank and praised youngster Jonathan King for his performance.
“We’re still warming up, but we performed very well,” Harmeston said.
“Jonathan King had a good debut and was unlucky to have a goal chalked out.”
King’s goal was deemed to have been scored by Joel Aitken by the referee, in an unlucky turn of events for the youngster.
Looking toward this week’s game against South Yarra, Harmeston said he was looking forward to a competitive fixture before the start of the season.
“They are good opposition and will give us a good game,” he said.
The second round qualifying games are set to occur this weekend, with more details to be released in the coming days.
