Deniliquin vs Strathmerton
LOST 30-21
It was a grand final rematch from last season, and what a rematch it was.
The team was in high spirits going out to bring home back-to-back silverware. The cheer squad was up and about, ready for an epic game, and the coaches were fired up.
Well, what can we say other than what a hard fought-out battle by both teams.
From the first whistle blown, Deni was on the front foot and had control of the ball, but it didn’t take long until we found our feet and put the pressure on.
Reen and Joy were a force to be reckoned with holding front position, but it still didn’t seem to go our way a lot.
But when it did, the flow down the court was clean and neat, the mid-courters all working tirelessly, doing the right things at the right time.
Unfortunately, Deni’s defenders were too strong and all over the ball, making it hard for our shooters to find their zing and capitalise on shots.
With a few rotations to settle and reset the team we had another crack, but just couldn’t seem to get on top of the impressive Deni side who took home the goods.
What a year it’s been and what a way to finish off a great season we’ve had together. Although we didn’t bring home the cup, we bought home a great bond between a ripper group of gals.
Thanks to Pete for your ongoing (literal) support for our group and Kez and Nic for keeping all things organised.
Thanks to those who made the effort up to Rennie to support us and who greeted us at the clubrooms afterwards, very much appreciated, what goes around comes around.
