Ninety-five athletes from eight countries have descended on Mulwala for the five-day event, the first world championship event in half-a-decade.
At the halfway mark, it was highly-touted Echuca talent and world number one junior Fletcher Ball who was right in the thick of the junior action for his country.
Ball marked his debut at the world championships with the highest score in round one of the junior boys’ slalom, qualifying for the semi-finals with a score of 17.9.
Ball’s junior boys’ jump effort of 18.8m was also good enough to qualify for the semi-final in that discipline, while a second-place finish in the Serie 1 tricks on day two saw a clean sweep of qualification for the Aussie young gun.
In the junior boys’ Serie 2 trick event, Lachlan Shearer led the field with an impressive 1500 points to progress to the semis after also qualifying in the boys' slalom.
Into his 12th world championships, world number two slalom master Brett Sands was in action alongside ball in the open men’s category, though results had not come through at the time of writing.
Day two highlights included a new world record in the open women’s slalom, with world number one Ash Stebbeings seemingly breaking her own record of 17.2 with a new bar of 17.4.
Semi-final action continues into Friday’s competition, while finals in all disciplines and age groups will take place on Saturday and Sunday.
The ski-jump night spectacular is also still scheduled to take place on Saturday night.
