It was a day for the batters at Moama Recreation Reserve on Sunday, with only four total wickets falling in the match, but it was Echuca who showed the scoring impetus to claim the win.
Moama batted first but found itself in early trouble, losing Jada Bover and Catriona Baldwin in the first five overs for a 2-7 start.
Olivia Davy made her way to the 30-ball limit but was only able to add seven runs in her time in the middle, the majority of the Moama total coming from the partnership of Delaney and Isla Laffy.
Both would retire not-out, Delaney with an aggressive 47, including eight fours, and Isla with 21.
Beatrix Bray then chipped in nine at the end of the innings to get Moama past the 100 mark, 2-101 in its 20 overs.
Chloe Moyle (1-16) and Sophie Good (1-21) made the early breakthroughs for Echuca, but it would be the bowling unit’s economy that would prove the difference between the sides.
Openers Gillian Noelker and Maisy Byrne got the Echuca chase off to a strong start, adding 48 before Noelker was removed for 14.
Byrne would retire on 26, Sophie Good and Jessica Cox going on with the job to get Echuca to the target.
It was a typically attacking innings from Cox, hitting five boundaries on her way to 26 from 13.
Good followed her captain’s lead, making 14 from eight as Echuca got comfortably to the target in just 12 overs.
Louise O’Callaghan (2-17) took both wickets at the top for Moama, but her side’s bowling unit wasn’t able to contain the Echuca run rate.
The champion returned to its winning ways with this result, after suffering consecutive defeats to Nagambie and Mooroopna.
Echuca heads into the bye this weekend, while Moama will be away to Bamawm-Lockington United.
