LBU travelled to Leitchville Recreation Reserve as the underdog, having only two wins to its name compared to the Bombers’ six, but the Cats showed dogged determination throughout the four quarters.

The first quarter went narrowly the way of L-G, with the Bombers managing two majors to the Cats’ one, before the teams went neck-and-neck in the second period with three goals apiece.
Ahead by a major at the half, the Bombers grabbed one more goal than their opponents in the third term to lead 8.5 (53) to 6.5 (41) heading into the final term.
Those 12 points ended up as the final margin as both sides kicked 1.3 in the final quarter for a final score of 9.8 (62) to 7.8 (50) in favour of the Bombers.

L-G spread the scoring load with Fraser Buchanan, Billy Hawken and Caleb Hislop each contributing two goals, while Bryce Barnstable, Blake Dye and Lachlan Sverns each had a single major to their names.
Jack Reiter performed his role at full-forward for LBU commendably, kicking three goals to lead the Cats, while Jesse Collins, Jayden Howe, Thomas Leech and Joseph Wolfe also contributed majors.
Having now improved to 7-4, the Bombers are solidified within the league’s top four and will be pleased to have seen improvement since their round one meeting with the Cats, when LBU walked away 38-point winners.

The opposite is true for LBU, who languishes in eighth with only two wins and nine losses to its name.
Next weekend will bring promising fixtures for both sides as L-G travels to face last-placed Elmore and LBU hosts Huntly, who has three wins.
