Deniliquin runner Bruce Maunganidze completed this year’s Sydney Marathon in a spectacular time.

Bruce participated in the marathon on Sunday, September 15, which started from North Sydney Oval in North Sydney.
The 42.195km World Athletics Platinum Label Marathon concluded at the Sydney Opera House.
Bruce’s initial goal was to complete the marathon in less than three hours and 30 minutes.
He finished in a blistering three hours, six minutes and 20 seconds and placed 1152 out of a whopping 20,280 participants.
Elite Wheelchair and 10km and 4.2km Sydney Marathon were also completed on the day.
The running event attracts 40,000 participants from more than 100 countries across the events, and has raised over $26.5 million for charitable organisations since its inception.
The Sydney Marathon is the sole remaining participant legacy of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
It was also a candidate race World Marathon Majors series to join the cities of Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York City and is required to meet strict criteria to achieve ‘Majors’ status.
Bruce had been training for the event for several months around full time employment and family time and other local activities.
He even trained through a knee injury.
Work colleagues, friends and family members were incredibly proud of his efforts.
