BUNNALOO Primary School students have shown there is plenty of swimming talent among their ranks.
Last week, several students represented the Deniliquin Small Schools team, which includes Bunnaloo, Blighty, Conargo, and Mayrung schools, at the Deniliquin District Swimming Carnival held at Hay.
Fred Peat and Tiia Shiels were stars of the day, with Tiia finishing in third place in the senior girls’ 200 m individual medley and 50 m backstroke.
Fred was runner-up in the senior boys’ age champion event. He earned that accolade after finishing first in the 50 m backstroke, second in the 100 m freestyle, second in the 50 m freestyle, second in the 50 m butterfly and third in the 200 m individual medley.
His win as part of the relay team means he will travel to Leeton to contest four individual races and one team event.
The school's relay team (for schools with less than 52 students) backed up their win at the small schools carnival earlier in the week with a victory that saw the team qualify to travel to Leeton on March 10 for the Riverina PSSA Swimming Carnival.
