For the first time in a long time, Jerilderie’s senior football side will have a new face steering the ship this season.
Demons legend Chris Marshall has passed the baton on to experienced coach Mitch Carroll, who brings a wealth of experience to the role.
A playing-coach with stints at Ovens and Murray clubs Albury and Lavington, Carroll has worn the coaching hat in recent seasons, enjoying stints at Ganmain Grong Grong Matong, Coleambally and Lochardt.
The new coach said he had enjoyed a positive start to the new role.
“It’s all going well, I’m pretty happy with how things are going, we got really good numbers to training from the start and there’s a few young local guys looking really good,” Carroll said.
With a few handy additions, and the retention of last season’s best-and-fairest Lachie Leeds and leading goal-kicker Mitch Conlan, Carroll said his side would be eager to go deep into September action.
“The main focus is on our younger group, trying to give them a bit more development and turning our 50-to-60-game first-grade players into senior players who will take on senior roles and push their career and the club forward.”
